Your tour guide will be noted local historian Fred Morales, author of 26 books on the history of the El Paso and Juarez region and current Curator of the El Paso/Juarez Historical Museum.
As Curator since 1993, Fred has presented over 235 public exhibitions of historical events in the history of West Texas, Southern New Mexico and Northern Chihuahua.

Fred has also completed numerous independent historical research projects and maps on such subjects as The Union Plaza District, Downtown El Paso, The history of the Franklin Canal, Six Downtown Streets and South Stanton Street.

Fred contributed research for the book
“El Paso Guided Through Time” by Leon Metz and was asked to conduct a Preliminary Study of Historical Structures within the Downtown Redevelopment Zone, for Wright & Dalbin in 2006.

Two additional projects of Fred’s include research on placement of Mexican Revolution Historical Markers for Downtown El Paso and a historical illustrated map of
El Paso and Juarez titled “Old El Paso”.

Along with the regions long history, Fred has his own history of giving back to the community, serving as spokesperson for the Chihuahuita Improvement Association from 1975 to 2005 and previously served on the Historic Landmark Commission for the City of El Paso in 1994. His community service has also extended across the border as a member of La Sociedad Chihuahuense De Estudios Historicos in Juarez, Mexico from 1997 to 1999.

Fred was honored to be a 2009 recipient the Conquistador Award by the City of El Paso.
The city’s highest award was given to Fred in recognition for his many years of work on the history of El Paso, including extensive work on the history of Chihuahuita, the city’s oldest neighborhood.

Fred’s Books, Projects and Historical Tours have been featured numerous times in the El Paso Times and El Diario Newspapers.
